outside4.jpg (114242 bytes)The Timmins Museum: National Exhibition Centre is a multi purpose facility which interprets the art, heritage, and culture of the Porcupine Mining Camp, North-eastern Ontario and Canada through a permanent exhibit area, resource library and traveling displays on many local and national themes.   Tales of the Porcupine Gold Rush are re-told as part of the exhibits in the Museum's Cochrane Gallery. Explore the story of Canada's largest city from the shield archaic cultures of Night Hawk Lake, to the boomtown settlements along Porcupine Lake. Samples of high grade gold ore, a mine tunnel and a prospectors cabin let visitors re-live what it was like to be a pioneer in New Ontario. The Outdoor Mining Court features equipment used in the mines during the 1930's.

A different exhibit is featured every month in the Jury Gallery, which houses a variety of traveling exhibits from Canada and abroad.

The museum also runs a variety of workshops, lectures, demonstrations and special events throughout the year. The gift shop on premises offers books, souvenirs, local artwork and crafts for sale.
