A Sense of Place

This unique exhibit, investigates the importance of attachment to a location and the role which belonging plays in creating a sense of purpose for the individual. A Sense of Place is on from November 6th through to December 6th, 2001. 


Throughout the year, an exciting series of temporary exhibitions on a wide range of engaging subjects are presented. From fine arts, natural and social history, to current affairs and social issues, these exhibits offer a window on the world. As well as bringing in exhibits from outside the region, the exhibit schedule includes special presentations on topics unique to the area: High School and community reunions, community art exhibits, and volunteer recognition events, all have benefited from public exposure at the Timmins Museum  

Upcoming special events include a book signing by well known local columnist Dianne Armstrong, who will be signing copies of her book "Over the Hill" a compilation of her articles for the Timmins Times on Friday November 23, from 6:00-8:00 pm. 

As well artist Lionel Venne will be offering a walkthrough of the works of art in his exhibit on Sunday November 25 from 2:0 -4;00 pm.  Both events are free to the public, with a donation of a non-perishable food item in support of the South Porcupine Food Bank, greatly appreciated.
