The Iroquois Falls Mercantile was built in 1915, and survived the great fire of 1916. The building was also officially opened in 1916. The manager was Mr. J.S. Code and his secretary was Kathrine Banting. There were many stores and businesses within the Iroquois Falls Mercantile. It was a one stop place for all of everyone's needs. There was a court house in 1918, a bowling alley in the basement that was run by Mr. Roy Caroll. There was also a post office, a restaurant, a barber shop, jewelry store, an Insurance bureau, tailor shop, taxi stand, a dentist, a pool room, and fire hall, just to name a few.

In 1946 the Bay Company took over the stores in the Mercantile. However in 1947 the Bay Company moved their store across the street to a new building. When the Bay moved out there were new stores that moved in, Pike Insurance Bureau, and a hairdressers, were just a couple of the businesses that moved in, the Bay's departure. Sadly in 1965 the Iroquois Falls Mercantile burnt to the ground. It was never rebuilt, and is now a very large parking lot.
