...by a visit to our static display of farming machinery,
throughout the summer months from May to September, or make a point to
visit Hunta on the second weekend in August, where you will be
entertained by local Hunta residents, who will have many of the
museum’s working farm equipment operating, and will be happy to
“shout above the noise’ and answer
any of your questions. This is a very popular annual event on our
C.T.M.G.A. calendar, and fun for all.
The
previously mentioned 1922
Fordston tractor, the initial project at
Hunta, is currently still on display. A 1938 Fasmell
and a four wheel drive Massey Harris stand out as popular
favourites with visitors, and owners alike. The latter is one of only
2800 units ever produced.
We all
know that comfort is the important in a day’s work. In the days before
tractors, when horse drawn implements, were the order of the day, what
the Farmer sat on, had to be comfortable. Little did he know, that this
item was to be a “hot” collectors item in the twentith century !

The
cast iron implement seat, or as most visitors describe them,
“tractor’s seat” were designed for use on various farm implements,
such as binders and disc ploughs, that were then pulled by horses. Hunta
has a great collection of these, dating back to 1800’s. As part of
this collection, is a Jabell seat, seen here, among a portion of the
overall collection.
