With the mining and lumbering industries forming a large part of the workforce in Elk Lake, it was only natural that repairs & maintenance needed to be carried out on equipment. Neatly displayed in one corner of our Museum is a tribute to Mr Edwardo
Pelissier who operated his blacksmith shop in Elk Lake .All of the tools, and
part of the original wall that they are stored on, were made by Mr Pelissier, himself, and were used in his workshop in
during the 20's and 30's
Supplies had to come to the area in the early
days to meet the demand of the growing population. Who else but The Hudson Bay Company was one of the first to open a Trading
store in Elk Lake.
Within our Museum is a simulated shop scene, using original packaging and displays from the numerous stores and shops of early Elk Lake.
